Following a couple of mechanical failures of fire pump systems under test FM Global has noticed that the long required practice of checking alignment during annual pumps tests is not always being followed. In this session we will discuss some of the reasons why it is beneficial to keep fire pumps properly aligned, some of the reasons pumps come out of alignment, what an alignment check is and how that differs from an actual alignment, finally how to get training or find services specializing in pump alignment.

Joe Janiga, PE, FSFPE is the Operation’s Chief Engineer for FM Global’s NY Operation; currently prepping for his retirement after over 40yrs of field work and engineering management.  Joe is a long time member of the Chapter, since 1979 and the SFPE as well.
